The federal government is starting to join banks, utilities, and countless other industries in moving more information and operations online to save money. But a paper industry-backed group called Consumers for Paper Options recently launched a PR campaign to slow the federal government's dive into the digital age, arguing that the government is racing ahead of the public's ability to get online. They were able to place language in last month's budget deal that forces the government to resume paper delivery of annual Social Security earnings statements to 150 million Americans.
