Parent Accused of Threatening Ringgold Teachers
A Finleyville man is accused of threatening to shoot teachers who are on strike in the Ringgold School District.
Police say they arrested 44-year-old George Shallenberger Thursday over Facebook posts about teachers that read "shoot them and start over'' and "guns don't kill people, I kill people.'' He's charged with one count of terroristic threats causing evacuation and one count of terroristic threats with intent to terrorize another.
Teachers had to evacuate the picket lines over the Facebook posts. They walked off the job October 18. Sticking points in the talks have included salaries and health care costs.
The union says they hope both sides can come to an agreement by Monday.

Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto is mandating that city contractors providing $100,000 or more in services must pay their full time employees at least $15 an hour. The mayor said "This is city taxpayer money, and we want to make sure that we are encouraging the companies…I can't think of anything more important than having an agreement that the lowest-paid workers are adequately paid."
