Do you think Congress should implement reforms now to save the disability program rather than pull funds from another program? <More Info>
It is reported the Social Security Disability Trust Fund will be depleted by 2016. The number of Americans receiving benefits has increased 20 percent over the last five years yet oversight of the program has decreased, leaving the agency vulnerable to fraud and abuse. Earlier this year it was reported that the Social Security Administration made an estimated 1.29 billion in overpayments. Should SSDI default in 2016 as predicted, Congress would likely draw from the Social Security Trust Fund which also has its own unsustainability issues.
