Close to Home
The event, titled Close to Home, is being held on July 23rd, 2013 at Carlow University to raise funds and awareness about the issue of human trafficking and modern-day slavery. Hosted by Diana Fletcher, local speaker, author and business owner, the event is one of Hope and Inspiration.
A Pew Research Center report released Monday suggests there is still a stark difference in attitudes about race relations among racial and ethnic groups. Eight years after electing a black president, two-thirds of blacks and hispanics think President Barack Obama at least tried to make race relations in the United States better while about half of whites think Obama made race relations better or at least tried to, but a third saying the president made race relations worse.
