Close to Home
The event, titled Close to Home, is being held on July 23rd, 2013 at Carlow University to raise funds and awareness about the issue of human trafficking and modern-day slavery. Hosted by Diana Fletcher, local speaker, author and business owner, the event is one of Hope and Inspiration.
In a first-in-the nation program, Oregon will charge 5000 volunteer car owners by the mile rather than taxed on their fuel use. The program is meant to help raise more revenue to pay for road and bridges projects. Due to greater fuel efficiency, hybrid and electric cars revenues from gasoline taxes have declined thus limiting costly road and bridge repairs across the nation.
