Last Thursday Great Britain voted to leave the European Union which it has been a member since 1993. Initial global response has been negative as financial markets have declined an average 5-8% and the British Pound hit a thirty year low as of Monday. Supporters claim that the exit from the EU will allow the U.K. to reclaim parts of national authority ceded to unelected Brussels officials where the EU is headquartered, while still leveraging a great deal of influence with Europe both financially and militarily.
