The Liberty Bridge on Monday reopened for the first time since a fire on September 2nd that that warped a key structural steel support causing the closure of the essential south hills artery for more than 55,000 vehicles daily. Concerns about the bridge's strength remain, as state police will enforce restrictions for vehicles weighing nine tons or more. Firetrucks, school buses, tractor-trailers and Port Authority buses will be prohibited. PennDot hopes to raise the weight limit to 30 tons over the next few weeks.
