The Obama administration is proposing a $10 per barrel tax on oil companies for the purpose of funding hundreds of billions of dollars worth of alternative transportation efforts, all part of the presidents ambitious climate agenda. The tax proposal, which would be phased in over five years, is described by the administration as a fee. GOP leaders are likely to oppose any new tax on energy companies.
