Spring Book Sale

The Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh Friends of the Carrick Library will hold a book sale at the library Tuesday, April 23 from 10 AM-6:30 PM. Adult, Teen & Children's materials will be priced to sell. Proceeds benefit the library. Call 412-882-3897.
Britain's political parties agreed to halt campaigning after Monday's horrific bombing in Manchester just weeks before the highly anticipated June 8 elections. Prime Minister Theresa May of the Conservative Party called for a snap election hoping to capitalize on her popularity and the disarray of the opposition Labour Party after the Brexit vote. Conventional wisdom suggests terrorist attacks immediately preceding elections benefit hawkish conservative candidates although that wasn't the case in France when Marine LePen lost by a significant margin despite several attacks in Paris leading up to their April election. Will the Manchester terrorist attack impact significantly Britain's upcoming elections?
