The Supreme Court seems ready to overturn the conviction of Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell on political corruption charges placing limits on the reach of federal bribery laws. Judges have expressed concerns about giving prosecutors too much power to criminalize everyday acts politicians perform for constituents. At issue is a federal law that bars public officials from accepting money or gifts. Justice Department disagreed saying for the court to rule that bribery laws in place for decades are too vague would be a recipe for corruption.
