The U.S. Supreme Court split 4-4 Thursday over a challenge to President Obama's immigration policy which sought deferred deportation for some 4 million undocumented immigrants currently in the United States. The split decision affirms the lower court ruling blocking its implementation after Texas and 25 other states sued, claiming the president had no authority to order the changes without Congressional approval. Under the proposal, illegals could remain if they meet certain residency requirements and have children who are American citizens or lawful permanent residents.
