Do you think the wounds suffered by the Fort Hood massacre victims should be reclassified as injuries suffered in combat? <More Info>
Major Nidal Hasan, the suspect in the Fort Hood massacre that killed 13 people and left 32 others wounded in 2009, has drawn 287 thousand dollars in pay while those injured have been denied combat pay. Their wounds were classified as "workplace violence." The classification also makes them ineligible for the Purple Heart. Several members of Congress argue the decision has resulted in an embarrassing lack of care and treatment for the victims and their families.
