Named the quartet-in-residence at Indiana University's Jacob School of Music in March 2012, the Pacifica was the quartet-in-residence at the Metropolitan Museum of Art (2009 – 2012) – a position previously held by the Guarneri String Quartet – and received the 2009 Grammy Award for Best Chamber Music Performance.
Supreme Court on Monday threw out a Texas abortion access law in a victory to supporters of abortion rights. The 2013 law required doctors performing abortions to have admitting privileges at nearby hospitals and for the abortion clinics to meet the same building standards as ambulatory surgical centers. The state said the law was passed "to ensure patient safety and raise standards of care." The number of abortion clinics in Texas dropped to 19 from 42 since its passage.
