Takacs Quartet with Marc-Andre Hamelin
In May, 2012, Gramophone Magazine announced that the Takács Quartet was the only string quartet to be inducted into its first Hall of Fame. Combined with the talent and genius of Marc-Andre Hamelin, who recently received a lifetime achievement prize by the German Record Critic’s Award, this is a concert not to be missed.
President Obama signed an executive order barring federal contractors from discriminating against lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender workers, with no exemption for those with religious affiliation. The act will leave in place exemptions that religious contractors currently have. Religious leaders had urged him to follow the example of the Senate bill and adopt a broad exemption for federal contractors, exempting religiously affiliated groups from the rules altogether.
