All Quiet on the Western Front
The US Premiere adaptation brings to life the poignant novel of World War I by Erich Maria Remarque as Paul Baumer, a student of nineteen, shares the lives, victories, tragedies and kinship of young soldiers who faced fighting for their country as German soldiers in the trenches of the Western Front. St. Andrew Christmas Bazaar
11am to 4pm
On Friday and Saturday, November 10th & 11th, St. Andrew Lutheran Church, located at 218 Alter Street in East Carnegie, will hold its annual Christmas Bazaar featuring quality homemade savory soups, crafts, decorations, assorted baked goods and pierogies. Shop for bargains and don’t forget to bring your Christmas list! The Bazaar is open from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm each day. Everyone is welcome!
In the wake of the hazing death of Timothy Piazza two lawsuits have been filed against Penn State alleging university officials failed to respond appropriately to persistent problems with hazing and alcohol use at its fraternities. Grand jury report found "a permissive atmosphere fostered by the Pennsylvania State University Interfraternity Council" led to Piazza's death. Penn State did halt pledging and enacted restrictions on alcohol consumption and social functions within its Greek community. However both LSU and Texas State temporarily suspended all Greek activities from campus after students recently died of alcohol poisoning at their schools.
