American Diabetes Association EXPO/Pittsburgh
9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
The American Diabetes Association EXPO will take place on Saturday November 10th from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center. The event will be hosted by the American Diabetes Association whose mission is to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by the disease. Attendees will have the chance to view health screenings, cooking demonstrations, and product exhibitors. Additionally, numerous leading experts will speak about the methods of dealing with the harmful consequences of diabetes. Come and receive the latest information on preventing and managing diabetes to help keep you and your family healthy.

As participants in this fun program, kids ages 8-9 can learn how to make healthy exercise and food choices, and create their own jump ropes from recycled materials as they celebrate fitness at Phipps.

Earlier this month the Pa. Senate passed legislation that would prevent municipalities from passing green-friendly policies aimed at reducing the environmental effects of plastic bags. Supporters of the bill say regulations on plastic bag sales could inhibit the state's 14 manufacturing facilities and the recycling industry. Environmental groups have opposed the legislation, arguing local communities should have the option to fight litter. Gov. Wolf has previously opposed the bill, though it's not clear whether he plans to veto the legislation.
